Do you take trade-ins?
Yes, we will provide you with a dollar value within a range for trade-in versus cash.
We will determine the value based on the following factors:
AGE & USAGE:
How old is your trade-in? The newer the scooter/power chair, the higher the value. We rarely buy/trade a scooter/power chair that is over five years old.
How much has it been used? (e.g., battery life, mileage, wear and tear). Heavily used scooters depreciate faster.
MAKE & MODEL
Certain brands and models hold their value better than others due to their reputation for durability, availability of spare parts, original retail price
CONDITION
• Excellent Condition: Minimal cosmetic damage, fully working, well-maintained
• Fair Condition: Some cosmetic wear, minor repairs needed
• Poor Condition: Needs major repair, or not functioning
BATTERY CONDITION
Battery health significantly affects resale value. A scooter/power chair with a new or well-functioning battery is worth more than one with a weak or dead battery (which can cost $140–$350+ to replace).
FEATURES & ACCESSORIES
• A higher-end scooter/power chair with high-end features can command a higher price.
ORIGINAL PRICE & DEPRECIATION
Like cars, mobility scooters depreciate over time.
• As a rough estimate:
Year 1: ~25–40% depreciation
Year 2: ~10–15% more
After 3+ years: Value stabilizes somewhat, depending on condition

How are you involved in the Community?
Our Desert Mobility Cares Outreach Program delivers refurbished mobility scooters to disadvantaged people. The recipients are needy individuals whom we encounter through customer interactions and case worker referrals. The mobility equipment comes from our generous customers who donate their unwanted equipment, trade-ins and obsolete models. Desert Mobility is committed to serving the mobility needs of the disabled population in Yuma and that includes people who need extra support. Outreach programs play an influential role in shaping society and the Yuma community can rely on us for solutions when they reach out to us.
We also hold Free Wheelchair Workshops at the Yuma Main Library
We are proud of our involvement in local sponsorship of Yuma youth athletics and providing rental scooters at the annual Midnight at the Oasis car show.
